LAN - TRAINER
[TOC]
|
|
The LAN-Trainer is a versatile laboratory system that supplements courses on
computer networks and LANs. The trainer exposes users to networking concepts at
the physical, MAC, network and transport layers through a carefully designed
series of experiments. The experiments reinforce the theory covered in lectures,
while hands-on programming exercises train users to fit into networking
positions in industry. The trainer can also be used for projects involving many
layers of the network hierarchy. This trainer consists of a Network Emulator Unit
(NEU) with PC plug-in
Network Interface Units (NIU) and Win 95 based experiment software. The software
contains a series of experiments in the form of stand-alone applications, 'C'
source code for the experiments, and a 'C' library to access the NIU. The source
code provides better understanding of the experiments, while the library allows
users to program new experiments, modify existing experiments, and try out
various network layers & protocols.

DATA COMMUNICATION - LAN TRAINER
[TOC]
|
|
Vi Microsystem offers a powerful "Data Communication - LAN Trainer"
based on 8075 / 8051 processor. It offers many types of hardware link like
RS-232, RS-485, Optical Fibre etc for Data Communication. The software offers
full flexibility for the students to understand various method of Data
Communication and RS-485 based LAN networking. This is built around a 8085 microprocessor or 8051 micro-controller based
board which consists of RS-232, RS-485, Fibre Optic, Analog Communication and
parallel link for Data Communication and establishing a Local Area Networking
experiments. The Data Communication software offer full flexibility for the student to
understand the basics of Data Communications. The LAN software offers detailed
information so that the basic of Local Area Networking. Software layer for
implementing various protocol can be easily understood by the student. Various
experiments are formed based on the hardware and software, which enable a
students to write his own Device Drivers for any protocol, different types of
Networking etc.Using the hardware (Data Communication Trainers) and the software, a IEEE
802.4 based (Token Bus) Networking can be established and studied.

RS-485 COMMUNICATION LINK :
[TOC]
|
|
This communication link consists of RS-485 driver for 8251 terminated at
9-pin ‘D’ Connector for easy networking by students. This can be used for
RS-485 communication for long distance. It can also be used for common channel
bus based networking. An IBM Pentium computer can be used as "Network Master" and Data
Communication - LAN Trainer can be used as nodes. The RS-485 bus is the common
bus like Ethernet, Arcnet. The powerful software written in VC++ and Visual
Basic will introduce the students to various networking techniques.
|
|
FEATURES :
|
|
The network Master is provided with powerful software to do the
followings.
|
-
Interacts with the each node / User and derives information on the
number of nodes and its corresponding address in the network.
-
Checks for connectivity and sets up the Logical Ring, which converts the
interconnection of nodes into a powerful LAN.
-
The Network Master Monitors the LAN contin-uously and views the channel
Activity.
-
Handles both the addition and deletion of a node without disturbing the
rest of the LAN.
-
All the nodes are based on "Data Communication Trainer" to
establish a industry recognized LAN standard - IEEE 802.4 Token Bus.
-
RS-485 based common bus is widely used in Process Automation.
|
|
In Local Area Networking mode, each node (8051 based system) will be
configured as "Boot Strap Mode". This means the node will first
"On Reset" will load the user program from the "Network
Master" . This user program can be a developed LAN program or the students
program for his Network configuration / new LAN software implementation. Hence a
versatile LAN can be customized by the students.
|
|
